So, this happened a few weeks ago, BUT I am just now posting it.
So, one night I felt like running errands at midnight (to HEB grocery and getting a drive thru taco from Taco Palenque). So, I did so and get back at 1am or slightly after. I walk inside my apartment several times unloading groceries. The last time, out of the corner of my eye I notice a huge brown spot out to the right on the floor in front of the apartment door entrance. I look to see what this "thing" is, and it is a spider whose body is seriously larger around (ALL AROUND) bigger than a quarter. It appeared as if the body was so fat and big and round that they spider had no choice other than to prop itself off the ground with its feet under the body which made the spider stand tall off the ground. I have NEVER seen anything like this before. It appeared to be a large spider that could with one jump spring right up on top of my face if it wanted to.
So, I knew I had to kill it. I was home alone, it was inside, it was late, no one around, and it was in my pathway to get anywhere else other than the kitchen. So, after some quick thinking and a feeling running through my body that I can't describe besides sickness at my stomach knowing what I had to do, I took off one flip flop and grabbed a kitchen towel in case it tried to jump. I turn around and took a final deep breathe then faced that thing and POW! I splattered that thing as fast as I could and as loud as I could. The sound of my flip flop hitting the floor was probably one of the loudest sounds I could ever imagine producing. I wanted to make sure that thing was dead...forever...gone! I won't give details from here but it was dead... very dead... trust me and I had a lot to clean up and take a shower afterwards because of how gross it was.
I finally hours later was able to fall asleep. The next morning, I woke up wondering what kind of a spider that was. I got online and did a search for "Texas spiders." A lot of pictures came back and as I viewed them ALL that I could, there was one spider that kept showing up that looked like what I saw. It was the only thing I saw that looked like what I saw. It showed a black version as a male tarantula and the brown version as a female tarantula. Still to this day, I am not sure what it was, but I am thinking a tarantula. It was the largest spider body I have ever seen in my life.
